Join us for one of the three plays in the New Works Festival Year 3, which showcases works by the graduating playwrights of the MFA Dramatic Writing program. The readings, which will each have two public performances, will be presented concert-style with professional actors and directors.
When 24-year-old Independent-Fighter Zahra learns she is seven months pregnant in the heat of the Iran-Iraq war, she rejects her maternal instincts and chooses to continue engaging in combat. As her impending due date approaches, Zahra is faced with most frightening battle of all: the battle within. In the ultimate test of bravery, Zahra must learn what it means to open up to love.
