Every semester we offer exciting opportunities for students, alumni, faculty, and staff to participate in community service activities. You can volunteer for a one-time service project during one of our Friends and Neighbors Service Days. For a more long term commitment, apply to be a part of the Community Partners Committee. Members of this group assist with the planning and organization of our service days and actively work with our partner organizations to promote strong relationships between the university and the community.
If you are looking for something with a more involved commitment, you can apply to join our Jumpstart Corps, and begin serving as a literacy tutor to young children in local Head Start Programs.
If you can only dedicate a few hours a week, you can join the Jumpstart Club! Members volunteer for one to three hours a week in USC area preschools. It’s a small commitment, but makes a huge difference in a child’s life! You do not need a car and you can choose the times you would like to volunteer.
Please come to one of our mandatory Jumpstart Club Orientation Sessions on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:00-8:00pm in VKC 252 or Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00-8:00pm in THH 106. All Readers are required to have proof of a negative TB test taken in the last year. Please email Rhea Trinanes at Rhea.Trinanes@jstart.org with any questions.
Interested in service learning while traveling outside of Los Angeles? Apply to our Alternative Break program! There are domestic and international volunteer opportunities that focus on a wide spectrum of issues facing our generation. In addition, you can also stay informed through our SConnection newsletter.
Finally, you can search our database for still more volunteer opportunities found at many of our non-profit partners.
