Participants on the trip will spend a week working with Washington State Park rangers on Orcas Island, the largest of the San Juan islands, located to the north east of Washington state. We will be performing environmental and conservation projects at Moran State Park, and spend our free time hiking the various trails, canoeing and kayaking, and exploring the waterfalls and forests on the park grounds.
The trip offers a unique experience for students to understand the issue of environmental conservation through service, and to work with other students who have an interest in the environment. The purpose of this trip is to afford students the opportunity to understand more about the environment, specifically one drastically different from that of Los Angeles, bringing students together through service and an appreciation for the environment.
