Placement Tests
1.
What tests do I need to take?
Consult an advisor in your academic department regarding your test requirements.

If I took AP courses in high school or took a class at another school, do I still need to take the a placement test?
Consult an advisor in your academic department.

Is there a fee for the placement tests?
There is no fee to take the tests.

When can I take the placement tests?
The placement tests are given on scheduled
test dates

How do I register for a placement test?
No registration is necessary unless noted otherwise.

What should I bring to the test?
Bring your USC I.D. or a photo I.D. and acceptance letter to USC, two No. 2 pencils and a pen. Calculators are NOT allowed.

How and when can I get my test results?
Normally results are ready by the next business day and may be picked up at the Testing Bureau in person with a picture I.D.
8.
If I took a placement test before, when can I repeat the test?
See the indiviual test descriptions for test repetition policies.
9.
How long are my placement test scores valid for?
Math, Chemistry and Physics results have no time limit. Foreign language results are valid for 1 year from test date.
10.
Can I get my results over the phone?
No. The Testing Bureau abides by the
Buckley Amendment
which forbids such request.

The Testing Bureau is located in the YWCA Bldg., Room 104 on the northeast corner of Watt Way and 36th Place on the main campus.

Can you mail me an application/information bulletin for a national test?
We do not mail out any applications/information bulletins. You may pick one up at the Testing Bureau Office during office hours.

Do you offer any preparation classes?
No, the Testing Bureau is not involved in any preparation classes nor does it have any information on them.
