Outlook RPC over HTTP (Vista and Office 2007)
  1. Open outlook 2007
  2. Type a profile name, you can use your username
  3. In the Auto Account Setup box check the box for “Manually configure server settings” you do not need to fill in the other fields. Click Next.
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange and Click Next.
  5. Type in samail2.sa.usc.edu and check the box for “Use Cached Exchange Mode”
  6. Type your username and click “More Settings” – Do Not Click Next at this time.
  7. Wait for the Connection to Fail (this is normal because setup is not complete yet), Click O.K. then click Cancel.
  8. Click on the Connection Tab.
  9. Check the box for “Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP”.
  10. Click on the Exchange Proxy Settings.
  11. Type in samail2.sa.usc.edu
  12. Check the box “on fast networks, connect using HTTP first.
  13. Under the Proxy Authentication dropdown box select BASIC and click O.K.
  14. Click O.K., then Click O.K. again.
  15. Click Next, then Click Finish
  16. Type in your username and password to connect - note: you may need to use the sa\ in front of your username if you’re outside of the domain. Ex. sa\username

Outlook at Home - RPC over HTTPS for Outlook/Exchange
In order to connect to SAIT’s Exchange server using Outlook from home, do the following:

1.  Make sure outlook is Closed.
2.  START
3.  Control Panel
4.  Click on the Mail icon
5.  Click on Show Profiles
8.  Click Add
9.  Type in the user’s username
10. Click O.K.
11. Select Add New E-Mail Account
12. Click Next
13. Select Microsoft Exchange Server
14. Click Next
15. Type in samail2.sa.usc.edu
16. Check Use Exchange Cache Mode
17. Type in the user’s username
18. Click on More Settings (wait for the message box to pop up the action could not be completed…This is normal for it to fail).
19. Click O.K.
20. Click O.K. again
21. Click on Connection tab
22. Select Connect to my exchange mailbox using http
23. Click on exchange proxy settings
24. Type in samail2.sa.usc.edu
25. Check both On Fast networks and On Slow networks check boxes.
26. Select Basic Authentication from the dropdown box
27. Click O.K.
28. Click O.K. again
29. Click Next
30. Click Finish
31. Click O.K.
32. Open outlook

All of your email, calendar, and contacts will be synchronized between your work computer, home computer, web interface, and PDA/Cell Phone.
