Configure Outlook For Off-Campus Email

USC and SAIT blocks "relaying" so you have to use your cable company's username, password, and outgoing server information.

Configuring Outlook

  1. Open outlook
  2. Click on tools
  3. Click on email accounts
  4. Select view or change existing e-mail accounts
  5. Click on next
  6. Click on the e-mail account you want then click change
  7. Type in the Outgoing SMTP server name for your cable company (leave the incoming server as email.usc.edu).
  8. Click on More settings
  9. click on outgoing server tab
  10. Check the box for “my outgoing server (smtp) requires authentication
  11. Click on the button for “Log on using”
  12. Type in the username and password that the cable company provided (not USC).
  13. Check the box for “Remember password".
  14. Click on O.K.
  15. Click on Next.
  16. Click on Finish.
  17. Close outlook
  18. Open outlook and try to send a message.
