Exchange 2007 Client Settings

Change email.usc.edu Forward Settings (All Exchange users must do this).

  1. Logon to email.usc.edu using your USC password (could be different from your Student Affairs password).
  2. Click on Options
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Under “Forward copies of new messages to” Check the box to “Enable forwarding” (you can optionally check the box for “Don’t leave a copy on server” if you don’t want to manage email.usc.edu email, otherwise you will have to periodically remove messages.
  5. Type in your username@samail2.usc.edu ex. janitor@samail2.usc.edu Note: the new server name is samail2 not samail.
  6. Click on the Save Changes button.
  7. Logout of email.usc.edu
Note: If you have forgotten your USC email password, please contact SAIT and request for a reset to your 10 digit USC employee number.

For Student Affairs PC Workstations (Local Outlook 2007):
No action necessary, the workstation will auto-configure itself upon logon.

For Outlook Web Access (Outlook Anywhere):
Logon to the new website either by going to http://sait.usc.edu clicking Mail, then clicking SA Mail 2007 or go directly to https://samail2.usc.edu/owa (note: https not http).

For phones/PDAs-ActiveSync Windows Mobile 5 & 6:

  1. Start
  2. ActiveSync
  3. Menu/Configure Server
  4. Server address must be: samail2.sa.usc.edu NOT samail.sa.usc.edu
  5. Next
  6. Enter your password
  7. Finish
  8. Sync (If prompted for changes, security updates, and a re-download of data select Yes or O.K.)

For RPC over HTTP (Outlook 2007 on a home computer):

  1. Open Outlook 2007
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Account Settings
  4. Double click Microsoft Exchange
  5. If necessary, change or add samail2.sa.usc.edu to the Microsoft Exchange Server box.
  6. If necessary, Check the Use Cached Exchange checkbox.
  7. Click on the More Settings button.
  8. Click on the Connection Tab
  9. Select Exchange Proxy Settings
  10. Add samail2.sa.usc.edu to the “Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange”.
  11. O.K.
  12. Close and restart Outlook 2007.

Note 1: Replace any server names with samail2.sa.usc.edu and any Domain name with SA where server and domain are mentioned in the article.  Also use the username@samail2.usc.edu format for your email address.

Note 2: Original IPhone users must upgrade their phones to version 2.0 or higher via ITunes.
