Despite the war raging outside, Parvaneh loves all the things a four year old loves: singing and dancing, going on adventures with her life-sized toy dog she named Hussein, and “special time” with Mom and Dad when the night sky lights up and goes BOOM! During the day, the television looms nearby enticing her with a view to the forbidden outside world and her secret friend, Saddam Hussein. Parvaneh is faced with the difficult questions that inevitably confront every child: Why do some days feel sad? Why do Mom and Dad whisper secrets? And which of her Husseins is the right Hussein?

One of three plays featured in a workshop of exciting and diverse new works by the School of Dramatic Arts second-year M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing students.
