- This survey is given prior to the first semester that a student attends USC ; for students that are new in the fall, the surveys are given between April and August. We have achieved our highest response rates for this survey: 84% to 88% of freshmen complete the survey.
- For most terms, the survey we have used is part of the CIRP (Cooperative Institutional Research Protocol) survey program, at the Higher Educational Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA.
- Students are asked about their expectations of college, future plans, concerns, personal background, study and social habits, self-perception, and personal opinions.
- We have extensive and useful historical freshman survey data, collected for over 30 years.
