USC Traveler

USC Student Affairs

The noble white horse that appears at all USC home football games with a Trojan warrior astride is one of the most famous college mascots.

Joanne Asman of Asman & Associates, LLC, is the proud owner of the current Traveler, who is a multiple National Champion Pure Spanish Andalusian.

“Over the past 30 years, I have been very lucky to own, ride and train many of my own horses, including showing and parading in the Pasadena Tournament of the Roses five times. Seven years ago, a special horse, this Andalusian, came into my life. His special temperament and ability to learn have made him an excellent ambassador for this wonderful breed. He is unique in that he responds to the public and honestly enjoys performing.”

“After spending many years working full time in the Medical field and working with my horses part time, I was blessed enough to turn a hobby into my profession. The past 15 years have been spent providing and managing equestrian performers. As owner of Asman & Associates, LLC, an entertainment and event planning company based in Burbank, CA, I have produced equestrian events such as the annual “Fiesta of the Spanish Horse,” “Festival of the Animals,” the “Burbank Celebrity Tournament of Horses” equestrian show, and a wild west variety equestrian and art show for the “Celebration of Life” Fundraiser. All of these events raise money for charity. The beneficiary of “Fiesta of the Spanish Horse” for the past three years has been the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Because of this USC involvement, I am more than happy to be able to help the university in an additional capacity.”

“As the Event Coordinator and Public Relations Chairman for the Rafael Soto Clinic, we featured the Olympic and World Equestrian Game Rider from Spain. Other accomplishments include coordinating and furnishing equestrian entertainment for numerous other events including the Western States Horse Expo, “The Nutcracker,” and, for 10 years, coordination of the Equestrian Program at the annual Renaissance Pleasure Faire.”

“Not only do I work with Equestrian Entertainment, I provide many animals for film and television, print medium and stage. The current “Traveler” is no stranger to cameras. He has been seen in many film, television and print articles with such celebrities as Janet Jackson, Leann Rimes, Alex Cord and Stephanie Powers. I have had the pleasure of providing entertainment over the years for the NFL Media Super Bowl Party (including musicians, bands, dancers, etc.), coordination of various celebrity fan appreciation receptions, and entertainment acquisition and coordination for large parties.”

“I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to continue the wonderful tradition established by Richard and Pat Saukko.”
