The USC Song Girls are often referred to as “Ambassadors of the University of Southern California.” Each year, the Song Girls learn and perfect new choreography for over thirty routines to keep their performances fresh, new and exciting. An average “behind the scenes” week consists of practices five days a week, an average of three hours per day. Public performances include appearances at all football games, men’s and some women’s basketball games and other Trojan athletic sporting events, including “jock rallies” at Heritage Hall on the Friday afternoons before all USC home football games. In addition, the Song Girls perform at alumni, charitable, University and special events throughout the calendar year, including during the summer.
The dedication, loyalty and quest for continual improvement are hallmarks of the USC Song Girl program. The USC Song Girls are truly dance athletes with a special mission of spirit and good will that is at the same time broad and focused in continuing the Tradition of Trojan Excellence.
The USC Song Girls, their coach since 1987former Song Girl Lori Crawley Nelson, and Justine Gilmantheir advisor, wish to reach out to our loyal alumni, friends and supporters. First, a sincere note of deep appreciation for all of the support, financial, emotional and otherwise, that the Trojan Family has so generously shared with the USC Song Girls over the years. A program of the magnitude of the USC Song Girls runs year round and features appearances throughout California and Nevada, in host cities for all Pac-10 away games, and appearances in countries and locations as diverse as Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Prague, Vienna, Australia, Budapest and Paris. Most of these trips abroad are paid for by those Song Girls and their families who can afford to do so.
The USC Song Girls would greatly appreciate your consideration of a financial pledge or gift in support of their tireless commitment to promote the Spirit of Troy. Many Trojan alumni and friends donate to the USC Song Girls at the place indicated on their football ticket applications. Others make donations throughout the year to the program to defray costs of uniforms, choreography, hair, makeup, travel, equipment and supplies. The USC Song Girls, their coach and their advisor, are deeply thankful to those who have personally helped the squad enlarge and continue the vital role it plays in the athletic, philanthropic and outreach mission of USC.
If you appreciate the work, dedication and commitment of the USC Song Girls, and would like to show your financial support, please consider making a pledge or a gift. No gift or pledge is too small; every gift helps sustain the unparalleled legacy of the USC Song Girls.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 annually for the USC Song Girl program, to supplement the support received by the University. Another goal is to identify sponsors for each of the twelve (12) Song Girls, on an ongoing basis, at the current rate of $1,900 per year. A long-range dream would be to endow each of the twelve (12) Song Girl positions in a similar manner as the endowed football positions.
The USC Song Girls thank you and all of the members of the Trojan Family for your kindness, generosity, and good wishes as the four decade tradition continues to embody and reflect the magnificent Spirit of Troy
