Assumption of Risk
Individuals are encouraged to have a physical examination and obtain adequate health and accident insurance PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION in recreational sports activities and other health and fitness programs. Individuals who participate in recreational sports will be doing so at their own risk.
The University of Southern California is not responsible for any injury that may occur to individuals participating in any recreational sports activity. Participation in any recreational sports activity is on a voluntary basis. |
· Lyon Center Staff
/ Faculty Membership
Staff/Faculty Lyon Center membership is available to all current USC faculty or staff with valid USC identification. Membership is non-transferable. Payment may be made by cash, credit card, discretionary, internal requisition, or personal/cashier’s check at the Lyon Center. All passes must be shown with a picture ID. Passes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Any abuse of the privileges could result in USC Rec Sports revoking all privileges.
Lyon Center membership includes access to Klug Family Fitness Center (weight room), basketball and volleyball courts, group exercise room, climbing wall, McDonalds Swimming Pool, racquetball and squash courts, locker rooms, sauna, Jacuzzi, cardiovascular equipment, and Robinson Fitness Room. Locker and equipment rental and activities which involve an instructor, massage therapist, or referee are available for a fee. Lyon Center membership covers the following semester dates:

Platinum Package
This package is available to USC staff, faculty, and alumni. It is not available to guests. It includes year (Fall/Spring/Summer) membership to the Lyon Center, full length locker rental (which includes towel service), along with 10 (ten) complimentary day passes. The package is only available Aug. 15 - October15 and as long as the supply of full length lockers are available.
Gold Package
This package is available to USC staff, faculty, and alumni. It is not available to guests. It includes year (Fall/Spring/Summer) membership to the Lyon Center, half length locker rental (which includes towel service), along with 5 (five) complimentary day passes. The package is only available Aug. 15 - October15 and as long as the supply of half length lockers are available.
General Package
A year membership to the Lyon Center is available to staff, faculty, alumni, and guests. This membership includes the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters (Aug. 15 - Aug. 14).
All passes must be shown with a picture ID. Passes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Any abuse of the privileges could result in USC Rec Sports revoking all privileges.
Semester Pass
A semester membership to the Lyon Center is available to staff, faculty, alumni, and guests. This membership allows access for one semester only. Individual semesters:
Fall: Aug. 15 - Dec. 15
Spring: Jan. 1 - April 30
Summer: May 1 - Aug. 14
Mid-Semester Pass
A mid-semester membership to the Lyon Center is available to staff, faculty, alumni, and guests. This membership allows access for the remainder of the semester. Mid-semester dates:
Mid-Fall: Oct. 15 - Dec. 15
Mid-Spring: Mar. 1 - Apr. 30
Mid-Summer: Jul. 1 - Aug. 14
Month Pass
A month pass is primarily for a guest and can be purchased at anytime. A month pass is approximately 30 days (including weekends). For example, if a guest were to purchase a month pass on Jan. 15 th , the pass would be dated to expire on Feb. 15 th .
Week Pass
A week pass is primarily for a guest and can be purchased at anytime. A week pass is approximately 7 days (including weekends). For example, if a guest were to purchase a week pass on Wednesday, the pass would be dated to expire on the following Wednesday.
Day Pass
A day pass is primarily for a guest and can be purchased at anytime. The pass is to be utilized during the day of purchase until closing (hours of operation).
· Student Access
USC students (graduate and undergraduate) who are currently
registered are eligible to access the Lyon Center and the
McDonald’s Swim Stadium at no charge. Students must
show their USC ID at the entrance of the Lyon Center.
All students are required to complete an online waiver prior to entry to the Lyon Center and McDonalds Pool. The waiver is available on the USC Rec Sports website ( www.usc.edu/recsports ) and need only be completed once during a students entire tenure at the University.
If a card indicates “invalid ID” or “privileges
unassigned” the card owner must contact the USCard
office during business hours. Access to the Lyon Center
can only be addressed through the USCard office. RecSports
does not have access to and is not authorized to change
status of the card.

If a USCard is invalid, lost or forgotten, a patron must
complete a guest membership form and may purchase a day-pass.
If the patron returns within two business days (during business
hours) with receipt and a valid ID, a refund will be awarded.
Members found utilizing other student’s ID’s
(not their own) will not be able to access the Lyon Center
for a 24hr period. The ID will be confiscated. If this is
a first-time offense, the owner of the ID must pay a retrieval
fine in order to reclaim their USC ID. Other cases may be
referred to Student Judicial Affairs.
All USC students are asked to carry their USC ID with them
at all times. The USC ID must be presented to university
officials upon request. It is non-transferable and may be
revoked for violation of university policies.
· Guest Policy
USC staff reserves the right to interpret policies on an individual basis. USC staff also reserves the right to refuse access or remove any individual whose behavior is inappropriate or in violation of USC rules and regulations. Sponsors are responsible for their respective guests. A photo identification must be presented in addition to all guest passes/cards. Guest passes are not non-transferable.
Guests must submit a written request from the sponsoring department at least 48 hours in advance. Upon approval, privileges will be issued at the current cost (as posted) depending on the pass required (month, week, or day). Conferences, workshops and seminars must contact USC Recreational Sports for special consideration.
A University Sponsored Guest is defined as any individual invited or sponsored by a USC student, faculty or staff member - this includes spouses, partners, friends, alumni, and parents. Guests must be age 16 and older. Sponsors are responsible for their respective guests.
· General Alumni Association
and Emeriti Center Members
Members of the Alumni Association and the Emeriti Center are eligible for usage of the Lyon Center by purchasing a membership. Members must present a valid USC Alumni Association card or USC Emeriti Center card. Terms and conditions are outlined in the USC General Alumni Association and Emeriti Center membership Privileges Guidelines.
· PhD and Graduate
Students
Students registered for doctoral dissertation, directed research, internship ships, or master's thesis must clear their eligibility through USC Card Office. Access to the Lyon Center cannot be done by the Lyon Center staff or at the Lyon Center.
Students registered for doctoral dissertation, directed research, internships, and/or master's thesis, must go IN PERSON to the USC Card Office for clearance prior to access to the Lyon Center. Should any USC ID card not work (indicates "invalid ID" or "privileges unassigned") at the Lyon Center, contact USC Card Office (213.740.8709) to have the card activated and any access to the Lyon Center cleared.
After Commencement, USC Card Office deactivates cards of recent graduates and individuals who have not registered for present summer or impending fall classes. Patrons must be a registered student for access to the Lyon Center

· General Liability
Release Statement
The University of Southern California ("USC"), through its Recreation Sports Department, supports various programs for students, faculty, staff, and official guests of the institution which include club sports, recreational interest clubs, leisure activities and intramural programs (the "Programs"). In sponsoring the Programs, the University may make certain facilities, services and personnel available to the participants which facilities, services, and personnel shall be considered to be part of the Programs. For and in consideration for USC permitting me to participate in the Programs, I hereby voluntarily indemnify, release from liability and hold harmless USC for any accident, injury, illness, death, loss, damage to person or property, or other consequences that I or any other person may suffer arising or resulting directly or indirectly from my participation in the Programs. In the event that I am injured, I agree to assume any financial obligation, either through my personal health insurance, or through some other means, for any medical costs which I incur. USC, however, assumes no responsibility for any medical expenses, injury or damage suffered by me in connection with the use of such facilities or services. I further agree to conform to all rules and regulations adopted by USC relating to the Programs. I further agree that my spouse, assignees, heirs, guardians, and legal representatives will not make any claim against, sue or attach the property of USC for any loss or damage resulting from my participation in the Programs. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY, A WAIVER OF MY LEGAL RIGHT TO COLLECT DAMAGES IN THE EVENT OF INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND A CONTRACT BETWEEN ME AND USC AND I SIGN IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL. BY SIGNING BELOW, I ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE I'VE READ AND AGREED TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS AGREEMENT . |
· Refund Policy
Under "special circumstances" which may also require
a note from personal medical physician, USC Recreational Sports will consider a refund for memberships (staff/faculty, guests, and alumni), USC Workout and locker rental fees.
The request should be made in writing to the USC Recreational Sports (mc 2500).
The refund procedure will be as follows:

"Days" refer to Lyon Center operating days. If a refund request is submitted before activity has started, there will be a $10 processing fee charged to the refunded amount. Any check returned from or rejected by the
respective bank is subject to a $25 processing fee.
Note: The ID stickers and/or locker tag must be returned when the request is submitted.
