Policies (down to points)
(down to eligibility)
· Sportsmanship
The Recreational Sports department stresses that the participants
display good sportsmanship at all times. The department will not
tolerate physical or verbal abuse of opponents or officials,
unsportsmanlike conduct or any other inappropriate behavior.
- Any ejected player must meet with the Intramural
Director within 48 hours. Ejected players face a minimum one game
suspension.
- Profanity Policy - Profane, inappropriate language
or obscene gestures will not be tolerated in Intramural activities.
Intramural officials and Program Coordinators will sanction individuals
for such behavior with various penalties based on the severity of the
acts. This includes players, coaches, and spectators.
- Please see Profanity
Policy Addendum at the bottom of this page for additional rules.
· Entry Deadlines
Entry deadlines are posted on the Intramural schedule and will be
strictly enforced. Teams that do not submit a completed entry form
along with entry fees will be placed on the All-University or Women's
waiting list. No Fraternity, Sorority or Hiccup points will be awarded
to these teams.
· Forfeits
A $25 forfeit fee will be due 48 hours after any forfeit. Any team that
does not pay the forfeit fee within the 48-hour time limit will be
dropped from the league. Teams who forfeit twice are not eligible for
playoffs. Any team that fails to send a representative to a managers
meeting will be required to post a forfeit deposit of $25 in order to be
allowed to participate in the league.
· Rescheduling
Games - [online game change form]
Requests to reschedule a game must be made in writing 48 hours prior to
the original scheduled game. Request for alternate game times and
location should occur through the Rec Sports department first. Managers
should then fill out the Request for Game Change Form. In order for the

form and the Recreational Sports Department must grant approval. In
games that require officials, a $25 rescheduling fee will be charged to

Policy Addendum
In response to the overuse of the “F-word,” RecSports
has developed a policy to specifically combat its usage. Any team member
using the “F-word” will be ejected for one half of the contest
without warning. The team and the manager will get a warning at this
time. On the second occurrence, the guilty team member and the manager/coach
will be ejected. Any team member using profane and/or abusive language,
including the “F-word,” after being ejected will be asked
to leave the event location. Failure to leave the location in a speedy
and prompt fashion could lead to forfeiture of the game. Any spectator
using the “F-word,” will also be asked to leave the event.
At the onset of each game the team manager will
be reminded of this rule, and is expected to remind his/her team of the
rule. If the usage of the “F-word” occurs during the first
quarter of play the player will be able to play after halftime, but if
it occurs in the second quarter the player will not be able to enter
the contest. If a player uses the “F-word” in the third quarter
he/she will be required to sit out the remainder of the game, but if
the usage occurs in the fourth quarter the player will be required to
sit out the rest of the competition and the first half of the team’s
next game.
· Protest Information
What you can protest:
- Use of any ineligible players.
- Rule interpretations by the officials.
Note: you cannot protest judgment calls by officials
- Breaking of rules by players except where the rules of activity assess
required penalties.
How to protest:
- Verbally tell the official and the supervisor that you are OFFICIALLY
protesting the game for one of the above reasons. This must be done
when the situation occurs, not when the game has ended.
- Turn in a written protest to RecSports between 24 and 48 hours
after the game. You may submit a written protest to recsports@usc.edu or turn it into the Rec Sports Office located in the Lyon Center.
Withdrawal of a protest:
You can verbally withdraw a protest by informing
either an official or the supervisor after the game. The Protest will
be dropped automatically upon failure to turn in a completed form.
How protests are decided:
- Player Eligibility: the alleged illegal player's
status will be checked according to the existing rules and requirements
from that player's affiliation. If the player does not meet the rule
requirements, the game will be automatically forfeited by the use of
the illegal player.
- Rule interpretations: these will be decided by
the head of RecSports officials after consulting the rule book, game
officials, the supervisor, and (if necessary) the RecSports Protest
Board.
Additional protest information:
If at any time protest regulations are not clear,
contact the RecSports Director in the Lyon center or by calling (213)
