Intramural Officials and Referees

If you are interested in refereeing and officiating please attend a introductory clinic. Football, Soccer, Basketball, and Floor Hockey are the sports for which Rec Sports hires officials. Classroom and floor/field clinics are scheduled each semester for new and returning officials. Attending the clinics is essential for training and hiring.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Completion of applications and other financial paperwork is done at the classroom clinics.  

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Intramurals and Student Referee Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS: No previous experience necessary. Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at USC.


Officials must complete the officials test for their respective sports by 4pm on the test dates. Tests will take place in the Lyon Center. Passing score is 80% (or better). Should this standard not be met on the first try, a re-test can be scheduled. For more information, questions or concerns, please contact us at recsports@usc.edu.

DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:

·       Attend (2) officials/referee clinics for training and re-certification.

·       Attire should be clean, neat, and professional. Black shorts or pants.

·       General knowledge of the sport. Intramural rules for officiated sports are available online:

·     Responsible for the overall administration of a match or competition.

·     Additional responsibility and projects as assigned by the program coordinator and administrative staff.

SALARY: $8.50 - $15.00; Flexible Hours/Evenings And Weekends
