Mathematics Placement Test

The Mathematics Placement Test is available online to all incoming undergraduate students who attend an orientation session or who request materials in lieu of an orientation session as a part of the Pre-Orientation Homework.

Students who plan to enroll in the following courses should take the Mathematics Placement Test:

  • Any mathematics course, either by choice or because it is required by your major or pre-professional status (see below for a list of majors with a math course requirement)
  • Chemistry 105a
  • Physics 151

The following majors have a math course requirement:

Architecture

Environmental Sciences

Astronomy

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

Biological Sciences

Kinesiology

Business

Mathematics

Chemistry

Neuroscience

Computer Science

Physics

Earth Sciences

Policy, Planning, and Development (all majors)

Economics

Psychobiology

Education

Psychology

Engineering (all majors)

 

 

Students may repeat the Mathematics Placement Test once during the fall registration period and once again after one semester. All repeat tests must be done in person at the USC Testing Bureau.
