1. When is the University Graduate Student Orientation offered?
USC offers a centralized graduate orientation in the fall only. Click here for information, including dates.

2. What is the difference between my program’s orientation and the University Graduate Orientation?
All graduate students must attend the orientation program offered by their school/department. In addition, USC sponsors a University Orientation with information about university-wide services and resources such as financial aid, library resources and student involvement. The University Orientation also offers students the opportunity to meet fellow graduate students from other fields of study.

3. What will I do at orientation?
As a new graduate student, you will become acquainted with the university during orientation and learn about vital campus resources. In an effort to personalize the University Orientation for each student, you will be able to choose from a variety of workshops that are designed to help integrate new graduate students into the USC community.

4. How do I sign up for orientation?
To reserve your place at the University Graduate Student Orientation, click here. Students must make reservations for their school/department orientation directly with their school/department.

Graduate Orientation is only offered for incoming students.

6. When can I arrive on campus for Orientation?
Check-in for the University Graduate Student Orientation begins at 11 a.m. at the Von KleinSmid Center (VKC) Courtyard. If you will arrive earlier, STA Travel, USC’s official travel service, can assist you with your travel needs, including airfare, hotel reservations, car rentals and shuttle services. 8. Where do I park for orientation?
Students may park at any open structure or lot on campus. Parking is $8 per day.

10. What should I wear to Orientation?
Casual attire is appropriate for Orientation. During the day, the weather in Los Angeles is generally warm. Students should also bring a backpack or bag to carry materials. Check the schedule of your school/department Orientation to determine if you should wear something different for special activities.

11. I am an international graduate student. Do I attend orientation?
There is an orientation designed specifically for new international graduate students. International Students do not attend the University Graduate Student Orientation. For more information, click here.
