What Happens

During the Orientation sessions, students and Guests attend separate activities for a majority of the session. Guest activities are designed to address specific needs of parents and families and provide information on university resources. The following describes the various activities for parents during Orientation sessions.

Academic Expectations Faculty and advisors in the academic units present essential information regarding academic requirements and regulations.
Faculty Showcase Parents see what happens in a USC classroom with one of USC’s most esteemed faculty members.
The Healthy Student This discussion highlights what parents can do to help prepare students for the college years and includes information on USC Medical Services and the Student Health Insurance program.
Paying for College Parents and Guests learn about fee settlement, payment plans, and financial aid.
Residential Education and Housing The presentation highlights the students living experience at USC, from how they are supported to housing logistics. 
Transportation and Hospitality  Parents and Guests learn about transportation and dinning options that USC has to offer. 
FERPA: Rights and Responsibilities
Emergency Procedures at USC
This session discusses student records and how that information may be released to parents. It also includes information on emergency procedures and preparedness at USC.
Student Services Exposition Parents and Guests attend a literature fair hosted by more than 50 student service departments on campus.
Parenting Through the College Years Parents and Guests dialogue with other parents and staff members about the transition to college. 
Closing Remarks Parents can ask questions, share comments and discuss issues with a senior staff member at USC.
