USC Orientation is designed to meet the needs of our incoming students – freshman, transfer and graduate. The entire university community comes together to support students’ success and assist students as they transition to college life.
Orientation has several primary goals:
- To help students succeed academically by providing wide-ranging resources and information on academic requirements, course offerings, and USC’s academic climate
- To assist students in making valuable connections with faculty, staff, and students
- To support students in their personal and social development, introducing them to a host of involvement opportunities, cultural experiences, and campus services
- To welcome parents and other family members, encouraging their important role as partners in students’ success and active members of the Trojan Family
At Orientation, students begin their academic careers at USC. Orientation is an opportunity for students to make choices about their academic interest areas and courses. The session is a combination of both educational and transactional sessions to prepare students for life at USC. Students and parents will attend different activities for a majority of the session, allowing us to address the needs of both groups.
At USC, we believe that orientation is a process, not just an event. The orientation session is the beginning of that process and students’ continued relationship with the entire university community. We hope that through the orientation session, students and family members obtain enough information to begin the process and feel a part of the Trojan Family.
