Thanksgiving Matchup

The OIS Thanksgiving Matchup program gives USC international students and scholars the opportunity to celebrate the Thanksgiving Day holiday with an American host family in and around the Los Angeles area.  Volunteering host families invite international students and scholars into their homes for a Thanksgiving feast and share how the holiday is celebrated in their family.

This program is a wonderful opportunity for both international students and host family members to learn more about each others’ cultures.  It is also a great way to foster new friendships across cultures. Many students and host families are returning participants each year!

How it Works

Applications for student and host family participants will be available through this page beginning in October.  In November, the OIS International Program Assistants (IPAs), Anna and Jocelyn, will match students with host families based on shared interests and expressed preferences.

In November, the IPAs will inform students and host families of their match and will also provide each others’ contact information.  The students and host families should communicate with each other to finalize details for the holiday.  Students will then be ready to visit the host family’s home and share the deliciously prepared meal on Thanksgiving Day.

Application Forms

OIS has closed the application process for 2009.  OIS thanks everyone for the interest and participation.
