Within 3 days of your arrival to the United States please call our office at (213) 740-2666 to schedule an appointment for the mandatory “J-1 Check-in.” Failure to check in may cause your immigration record to be cancelled and you to lose your J-1 non-immigrant status. Be sure to complete the J-1 Scholar Permanent Record Form and bring it to our office with photocopies of your date stamped DS-2019, I-94 card (front and back), J-1 visa and passport identification page. During the J-1 Check-in we will answer any questions you may have and give you our scholar welcome packet which includes a copy of our International Student/Scholar Handbook and other materials to ease your transition to USC.
