J-1 Scholar Orientation

A monthly orientation which gives J-1 scholars an opportunity to meet OIS J-1 Advising Staff and receive valuable information regarding immigration regulations and resources available to them through the Office of International Services. We strongly encourage all scholars to attend an orientation session shortly after arrival at USC.

J-1 Scholar Meet and Greet

As the name implies, this monthly events allows both new and current J-1 scholars to meet one another and get better acquainted. OIS staff members are also available to answer questions for our new scholars, but we’ve found our current scholars really are the best resource to help new J-1’s settle into USC and Los Angeles.

J-1 Scholar Reception

The J-1 Scholar Reception is held annually and brings together the entire J-1 community. All of our J-1 scholars, J-2 dependents, USC faculty sponsors, and department administrators are invited for an afternoon of hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. This semi-formal event allows us the opportunity to recognize the J-1 scholar community and show our appreciation for all they add to the life of the University.

OIS Events

The Workshops and Events section of the OIS website includes information about the numerous events sponsored by the Office of International Services. We are very interested in providing opportunities for J-1 scholars to meet one another and make the most of their time in Los Angeles. If you have ideas about things we can do to promote interaction within the J-1 community, please feel free to share your ideas with us. USC Events

There is almost always something happening here at USC. You will find art exhibits, evening lectures, music performances, lunch discussions and many other opportunities happening on campus all the time. Many of these events are free while others request an RSVP or require a ticket. As J-1 scholars, you and your dependents are invited to participate in anything you find interesting.
