Department and potential Exchange Visitor communicate regarding a possible visit
Department decides to invite the Exchange Visitor
Department requests 10-digit USC ID number for scholar via USC Payroll (employees) or iVIP databse (non-employees)
Department submits
DS-2019 request
to OIS along with $250 internal requisition
10 business days later OIS will contact the department to pick-up the DS-2019 in STU 300 (except in the case of
transfers
)
Department mails DS-2019 to Exchange Visitor
Exchange visitor completes form I-901 and pays the
SEVIS fee
online
Exchange Visitor goes to any U.S. embassy or consulate to
request visa
Exchange Visitor enters the U.S. with Passport, Visa, and DS-2019
Exchange Visitor
checks in
with OIS within 3 days of arrival at USC
OIS available to Exchange Visitor and department for questions and advice during visitor’s stay
