I'm travelling. What should I do?

In order to re-enter the U.S. after a temporary absence scholars must carry the following documents:

1. Valid Passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of the re-entry to the U.S.)
2. Valid J-1 visa in passport (except Canadian citizens)
3. DS-2019 with a valid travel endorsement from an OIS advisor (signatures are valid for 6 months)

Travel signatures are available to J-1 scholars on a walk-in basis.  If someone is not immediately available to sign your form you will be asked to drop it off and return in a couple of hours.

Scholars whose absence from the U.S. will be longer than 30 days should meet with an OIS advisor.
