History
The USC Mexican American Alumni Association was formed in 1973, when eight civic minded USC Mexican American alumni, along with Raúl Vargas (right) as founding executive director, convened to create an association dedicated to supporting the advancement of Latinos in highereducation.
USC MAAA is a pioneering Latino alumni association dedicated to raising scholarship funds for Latino students attending USC. The university supported MAAA’s mission by establishing a 2:1 matching program for undergraduate scholarship funds raised.
Today, USC MAAA is one of the most successful Latino alumni associations in the country, with an endowment that currently stands at $2.5 million. USC MAAA has raised nearly $13 million and provided over 6,500 scholarships to USC Latino students.
