History
The USC Latino Alumni Association a legacy of the USC MAAA was formed in 1973, when
eight civic minded USC Mexican American alumni, along with Raúl Vargas as founding executive
director, convened to create an association dedicated to supporting the advancement of
Latinos in higher education. In 1974 the university supported our mission by establishing a 2:1 matching program for undergraduate scholarship funds raised. These efforts provide much-needed assistance to underrepresented, first generation, low-income Latino students who have achieved superior academic records and who provide volunteer service for the community.
