For some students, coming out to parents or legal guardians can be difficult and as a result it can be accompanied by unfavorable financial consequences, but for others, coming out is less complicated and does not have any financial repercussions. Every one’s coming out experience is unique. However, one thing that students have in common is the need to pay for college. Below are a few scholarship resources for LGBT students.
The USC Lambda LGBT Alumni Association’s main purpose is to provide scholarships to incoming, undergraduate, and graduate USC students who show a commitment to the LGBT community, regardless of gender or sexual identity.
Point Foundation provides financial support, mentoring, leadership training and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
If are dealing with financial hardships due to coming out or a financial situation as a result of your sexuality and/or gender identity/expression, contact the LGBT Resource Center Director and together we can explore financial aid options.
