In commemoration of National Coming Out Day on October 11, the University of Southern California’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community has published the OUTlist in the Daily Trojan for the past 15 years. The OUTlist features names of LGBT and Ally students, faculty, staff and alumni who advocate for a safe and respectful environment for every member of the USC community.
In the Daily Trojan, the OUTlist reads:
The Trojan family, like most other families, has some members who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, and many others who count themselves as allies.
Each one of us who has signed below celebrates National Coming Out Day, and we are proud to advocate a safe and respectful environment for every member of the USC community. By adding our names to this list, we are saying this day matters to us. We’re saying we want USC to be a place where all belong, where all feel welcome.
Today, some of us are proud to come out as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. Others of us are proud to count ourselves as allies and continue to support those who come out. Together, we are your fellow students, professors, alums, co-workers, roommates, and friends in the Trojan family!
We invite you to support this OUTlist by providing your name. In addition, we encourage you to join us in celebration of National Coming Out Day and the related coming out events. If you wish to include your name in this list, please sign the list. You can complete it online. You may be emailed to verify that you actually submitted your name. If you have any questions, please contact Vincent Vigil.
