Mayor Villaraigosa’s LGBT Heritage Month – Queer Art Needed

LGBT Heritage Month with Villaraigosa

The Mayor’s Office and The Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) are proud supporters of the third annual Los Angeles Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Heritage Month Celebration for 2013.  This celebration will promote and encourage an awareness of the significant contributions made by our City’s LGBT community members in culture, education, politics, business, entertainment, technology, and the arts.

As part of this celebration we are once again creating a comprehensive Los Angeles LGBT Heritage Month Calendar and Cultural Guide showcasing quality LGBT artists from across Los Angeles and listing the numerous events, exhibitions, lectures, festivals, and cultural programs related to this celebration of LGBT culture. 

 We invite USC students to please submit images of your visual works of art via email to Martica Caraballo Stork, my assistant editor at DCA, at marta.stork@lacity.org.  Please only send high-resolution images (300 DPI or larger) appropriate for publication and remember to include all credit information with all works submitted.   

 The deadline for artwork submissions is April 26, 2013.
