Marriage Equality at the Supreme Court
4/11/2013, 12:20 - 1:15 PM
Musick Law Building
OUTLaw, USC Law's LGBT student association, is happy to announce that on Thursday, April 11th in room 101 of the Musick Law Building from 12:20-1:15 PM we will be hosting USC Law's very own professor of Constitutional law, Professor David Cruz, for a presentation on marriage equality before the Supreme Court. Professor Cruz has just returned from Washington D.C. where he sat in on the oral arguments before the Court for both the Prop 8 and Defense of Marriage Act (a.k.a DOMA) cases. Come learn about the legal issues that the court will be deciding (including an explanation of the widely-discussed issue of standing), and the possible ways in which the cases could be decided and the impact each decision could have on marriage equality throughout the United States. Of course, Professor Cruz will also offer his own insight and predictions as to how he thinks the Court will vote. The presentation will be followed by a brief question and answer session. Lunch will be served. We hope to see you there!
