Academic Recognition Programs
The Assistant Coordinator assists professional staff in three areas: National and International Graduate Fellowships, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Trustee/Presidential Scholars. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience working with college students in an advisory or counseling role, strong skills in detail-oriented work, the ability to meet firm deadlines, and computer proficiency including Windows, MS-Word, Excel and Access. Graduate students in the PASA, MFT, School Counseling program that are looking for student staff positions for 10-15 hours per week. There are a few positions open in our reception area in the Center for Academic Support for fall and spring semesters.Compensation is $12-$14 per hour. Asian Pacific American Student Services (APASS)
Plan and implement a comprehensive departmental and campus life orientation for incoming Asian Pacific American undergraduate students; responsibility for supervising PEER mentoring program (a first year success and counseling program); work with individual organizations and organizational leadership throughout the academic year on educational/cultural programming. The successful candidate will have significant programming experience and significant knowledge of APA student development and organizational issues. Prior student organizational leadership or advisory experience will be helpful. Experience supervising student staff will be helpful. Compensation: $12-14/hour. Career Planning & Placement Center (CPPC)
The graduate intern assists professional staff with walk-in advising. The intern will also help facilitate career workshops. Interns will have the opportunity to rotate between different departments in the CPPC, including Advising, Internship, On Campus Recruiting, Marketing and Special Events. Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs
A qualified candidate for the position of Graduate Program Assistant (GPA) for CBCSA will be currently enrolled as a USC graduate student, maintain effective organizational and project coordination abilities, strong customer service orientation, exceptional telephone etiquette and solid interpersonal skills. Additionally, the GPA will assist with: planning and implementation, as well as, preparation and delivery of various CBCSA programs and services. The GPA will be intimately involved with the totality of the department and will be expected to serve as an ambassador for the department within the Division of Student Affairs and the greater University community. The Center for Women and Men offers a graduate employment opportunity beginning August 2008. The position is responsible for: assisting with programming and special projects, supporting daily operations, maintaining the library and resource areas, editing and producing the Center's newsletter, Feminista!, negotiating and executing contracts with internal an external vendors when needed, and promoting services available for victims of sexual assault, harassment, stalking and other types of gender based harm. The Men CARE project, a partnership between the USC Center for Women & Men and the USC Rossier School of Education, offers a graduate employment opportunity beginning in October 2008. The position would be responsible for assisting with male-to-male peer-education programming focused on reducing gender-related violence. Duties would include coordination of meetings with peer educators, outreach to student organizations and help facilitate training. Candidates should have superior oral and written communication skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to meet firm deadlines. Because this is a grant-funded position, we will not be able to extend the final offer before September 2008. Compensation: $12-$14 per hour for 15 hours per week. Disability Services and Programs (DSP)
DSP Counselors assist in providing direct services to students with psychological, physical, and/or learning disabilities. Responsibilities include; psycho-educational counseling, student intake and registration, data input, communicating accommodations, making files, troubleshooting, and responding to inquiries from parents, faculty, staff, and students. Compensation: $14 per hour for 15- 20 hours a week. Preference given to candidates who can make a 2-year, 4 semester commitment. Start date: Mid-August. AT Consultants provide technical and instructional support related to assistive hardware, software, peripherals, and other technologies necessary to assist students who have disabilities in order to promote their academic success. You will need to be able to learn to train students with disabilities in appropriate assistive technologies as derived from their individual assessment or personal choice. This employee will assist with the production of alternate text for students with disabilities. The person in this position installs, configures and maintains assistive hardware, software and peripherals in the Assistive Technology Lab and satellite labs. This person also troubleshoots, corrects, and repairs hardware and software and will need to make recommendations for improvements and upgrades of the Assistive Technology Lab as well. The AT Consultant will also spend time scanning and archiving confidential documents. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the AT Coordinator. Applicants must be well organized and work well under pressure. Experience and a desire to work with computers is required. In depth technical knowledge of scanning documents and optical character recognition is strongly preferred. Previous experience in working with people with disabilities is very desirable. El Centro Chicano
El Centro offers a graduate employment opportunity beginning August 2008 and ending May 2009. The position is responsible for: assisting with programming and special projects depending on applicants skills (i.e. coordinating mentor program Conexiones, grant writing/fundraising, updating alumni database/cultivating relationship, marketing, updating training manuals, coordinating Latino Floor RA Interview Process, etc.), supporting daily operations, coordinating Elementary/MS/HS Visits, participating in various committees (i.e. Chicano/Latino Graduation), being present and active at key El Centro events throughout the year, and working on other duties as assigned. Office for Student Judicial Affairs & Community Standards
The Judicial Officer is responsible for adjudicating cases involving alleged violations of the USC Student Conduct Code in a developmental and progressive manner. Judicial Officers meet with students, initiate conversations, and decide appropriate outcomes. Judicial Officers liaise with student affairs offices, present educational seminars, and work closely with campus organizations, including Peer Mediators and the Greek community. The GHA program places graduate students in residence with fraternal organizations as administrative and program advisors. Responsibilities are defined by the cooperative efforts of the Office for Fraternity & Sorority Leadership Development, the alumni board, and the undergraduate officers. Preference is given to persons with previous fraternity or strong leadership experience. This position is not available to first year law, medicine or dentistry students. Office of International Services
This position reports to the Senior Associate Director. Position duties include editing the 12 page International Connection newsletter, published four times a year, focusing on issues of interest to the USC community and photography of events to include into the publication. The Editor will be responsible for gathering material for each issue, writing articles, making writing assignments, copy, layout, and editing entire newsletter, working with printer to assure timely publication of each issue, and assist in posting International Connection on OIS web page. Ideal candidate will have experience with editing and producing publications, strong interest in international education issues, excellent writing and communication skills, fluent in computer programs, specifically InDesign, ability to produce quality photographs, have a flexible work schedule and the ability to meet firm deadlines, and be enrolled in full-time graduate program at USC for periods of employment. Preferred qualification include coursework in journalism, communications, or professional writing, familiarity with USC resources and information networks, and familiarity with issues in international education. The SCholars Program Assistant is responsible for supporting daily office operations, planning and executing outreach and recruitment events for prospective transfer students, advising current students, and completing other duties as assigned. Student Outcomes Research
The position involves assistance in the administration of surveys, analysis of survey data, and preparation of research reports. Familiarity with statistics and excellent writing skills are essential. Experience with Access, SPSS, Excel, and Publisher, and with the research/statistics process in general are desirable. 15-20 hours per week for the fall semester and likely renewable through the spring semester. The hours are flexible but would have to be some time between 8:30 and 5, Monday through Friday.

Student Support and Advocacy
The SSA Student Services Graduate Assistant will be responsible for assisting with student related issues and special projects in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. In addition, they will follow-up with student incidents, injuries and accidents from the Department of Public Safety daily reports. This person with serve as a resource to help students transitioning out of University Housing into non-University housing, by providing information about how to find housing alternatives, processes for handling grievances, information on tenant rights and responsibilities and local listings for housing opportunities. The SSA Student Services Graduate Assistant will serve as an advocate/resource in responding to student, faculty, parent and staff concerns, issues and referrals, while assisting and identifying key student problems/issues and working to resolve them. In addition, they will be responsible for tracking and data entry of student case notes in Student Intake System and Daily Tracking Systems. They will be expected to conduct relevant research and gather necessary background information for special projects in support of the Student Services Manager and Senior Associate Dean, while also helping with the preparation of presentations and/or trainings. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to listen well, possess good problem-solving skills and positive disposition. Volunteer Center
Friends and Neighbors Day is one of our most popular programs. These service events take place on Saturdays throughout the school year and provide a great opportunity to meet fellow students as well as get involved in the surrounding community. The Friends and Neighbor Day coordinator will oversee all aspects of the program's development, implementation, and evaluation. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to program planning, recruitment of community partners and student participants, general program management, and working with undergraduate coordinators. Preference will be given to candidates who have large-scale event planning experience, demonstrated leadership in multifaceted collaborative programs, and experience working with students, and community organizations. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to plan and execute multifaceted programs, ability to work well in a team environment, and computer proficiency. Compensation: $14 per hour for 15-20 hours a week. Start date: The ideal candidate will be able to start by mid-July 2008. This position is for fall, spring, and summer.

It emphasizes community based knowledge and service for entering freshmen. The SCitizen coordinator will oversee all aspects of the program's development, implementation, and evaluation. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to program planning, recruitment of faculty and student participants, development of a publicity/marketing campaign, chairing the SCitizen E-Board, and establishing relationships with community partners. Preference will be given to candidates who have large-scale event planning experience, service learning program experience, demonstrated leadership in multifaceted collaborative programs, and experience working with faculty, students, and community organizations. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to plan and execute fundraising initiatives, ability to work well in a team environment, and computer proficiency. Compensation: $14 per hour for 15-20 hours a week. Dates of Employment: The ideal candidate will be able to start by mid-July 2008. This position is for fall, spring, and summer.
