Hello Prospective Applicants!
On this webpage you will find materials for the graduate employment opportunities offered by the University of Southern California’s Division of Student Affairs. These part-time positions are open to students admitted to any of USC's graduate and professional programs, although two conditions may exist. First, some departments may make preference for students applying for the Master’s program in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs (M.E. PASA), which prepares graduates for professional positions in the field of student affairs. Second, because of either course-load or internship requirements, some positions may not be available to candidates who are enrolled in particular academic programs.
You must submit your application through our website. You will be asked to enter some demographic information and submit a resume and cover letter.
Please note that the Graduate Student Employment Opportunities application may be used to apply for any of the available positions. On the application you will be asked to identify the positions in which you are interested. Your indication of preference does not guarantee an interview with that department. Our positions tend to be very competitive and the most successful candidates express interest in several positions. Interviews will be determined by application review and position availability.
The priority deadline for initial screening is February 1, 2008. Applications will be accepted beyond this date, but for primary consideration, submit your materials no later than February 1. We will conduct interviews in late February and March and anticipate extending offers beginning in mid April.
We will host a Preview Day on campus on Friday, February 29, 2008. This event is open to all students who have submitted complete applications for a graduate employment opportunity and a USC graduate program (including any necessary test scores, transcripts, and recommendation letters). Candidates who attend the Preview Day may interview for up to three positions. Candidates not attending this event will still have the opportunity to be interviewed for available positions at another time.
Applications will be considered until all positions are filled. Additional openings frequently occur throughout the summer and occasionally during the academic year. Therefore, additional candidates and all alternates not hired initially will be considered for later openings. Please check our website for the most up-to-date employment opportunities.
The Division of Student Affairs centralizes this hiring process, but each department will conduct their own selection process and phone interviews. Use the contact information provided on our website for questions regarding specific positions. If you have questions about the general process, we have created a list of Frequently Asked Questions You may also contact us at the email address listed below.
