USC CBCSA Home University of Southern California

The USC Fly Girls was founded to create an outlet for the expression of African-American culture through dance. Our founders established Fly Girls under the CBCSA in November 1998 out of the need for a dance group that represented the range of diversity among USC students and within dance. Fly Girls incorporates jazz, soulful lyrical, modern and hip-hop dance in a way that illustrates our diverse cultures. Over our squad's ten years on the USC campus, we have grown to become a successful team known for our high-energy performances and dedication to community. In 2005, Fly Girls founded the college hip-hop competition "Choreography," which brings together college dance teams from all over California to compete; it is currently the only competition of its kind. We also perform for scholarship events aimed to support minority students and Black Student Assembly programs, as well as for events and competitions throughout Southern California. Many of our former and current members dance professionally.
