“My name is Javier Carrillo. I was born in Mexico and raised in Los Angeles, California. I have always been interested in art and have studied in various programs throughout the country. This tapestry, under the direction of John Nava, is the first created through the Art Division Tapestry Projects. I have chosen music as the central image of this piece, for it is music and dance that bring together the many diverse cultures of our city.” – Javier Carillo
