Maynard Dixon was a noted illustrator, landscape, and mural painter of the early 20th-century American West. Dixon was commissioned to paint The Jinks Room murals in 1914 by Anita Baldwin McClaughry, in the Anoakia Mansion of Arcadia. . Since the Anoakia Mansion was torn down in 1998, murals and artifacts from the home have been preserved in museums and universities throughout California. USC Fisher Museum of Art acquired these six pieces of the total nine Jinks Room murals.
