REDEFINING ENGAGEMENT IN ACTIVE LEADERSHIP

Overview
The Redefining Engagement in Active Leadership (REAL) Project is an innovative leadership program that links student development and learning to service and action. Based on the social change model of leadership development, REAL creates a service-based curriculum that incorporates leadership development, educational awareness, and civic participation to promote social change. The goal of the program is to transcend the concept of leadership and provide students with meaningful opportunities for personal development and growth.
By participating in the program, students will:
- Gain greater personal insight to their leadership abilities and identify areas of development
- Sharpen current leadership skills to become stronger leaders on the USC campus
- Develop cross-cultural competency to empower themselves and other students to create a more inclusive campus community
- Increase awareness of social issues affecting the United States
- Implement the skills learned by creating educational programming to engage the USC community
Participants will have the opportunity to take two individual leadership assessments, participate in educational workshops and design a series of programs to bring awareness to the USC community regarding social issues affecting the United States. This year,
Campus Climate has been pre-selected as the topic.
