Kennesaw State University and the University of Southern California have joined together to bring a truly unique opportunity to our students. 15 students from each institution will be selected to participate in a six-month exploration of leadership, service, and the social issue of homelessness that includes two immersion weekends (one in Atlanta, the other in Los Angeles). Participants will be paired with a student from the other institution and are expected to complete one team project focused on homelessness throughout the progression of the program.
Students will build relationships with students from another institution.
Students will understand the Center for Strategic and International Studies “7 Revolutions.”
Students will develop a better understanding of self.
Students will develop a better understanding of the social issue of homelessness.
Students will engage in a service project focused on homelessness.
Students will learn how to effectively work within a team in a very autonomous environment.
Participants
We are seeking open-minded individuals looking for a unique experience to challenge themselves both as leaders and individuals.
Preference will be given to students with sophomore or junior class standing, but any interested student should apply.
Successful students will be creative, self-starters with a sincere commitment to this program.
This is not a credited course, but participants will meet approximately twice a month with minimal reading/assignments required including one team project with a student from the other institution.
Other Pertinent Information
In an attempt to keep costs to a minimum, students will stay with their partner from the other institution during their visits. Please make sure this is acceptable to you and your roommates before applying.
Students may incur some costs, but the maximum each student will pay for this experience is $200, which can be paid in installments. The exact amount will be determined prior to the interview dates.
Los Angeles Trip: Jan 15 – 18 or Jan 28 – 31 (fly out the evening of the 15 or 28)
Atlanta Trip: March 18 – 21 (fly out the evening of the 18th)
