USC is committed to sustaining a healthy learning environment for all students.  As such USC is committed to sustaining a healthy learning environment for all students.  As such, these resources seek to educate students regarding the consumption of alcohol and other substances.  The goal is to help students make well-informed decisions and support those who might need assistance.   These programs maintain open communication between students and university administrators to better serve the needs of the student population.

Alcohol.Edu
Alcohol.Edu is an online science-based alcohol prevention program that provides a tailored educational experience focusing on the impact of alcohol on the mind and body. Every incoming undergraduate student is required to take Alcohol.Edu and pass the course's final exam prior to arriving on campus. This way, every student coming into the USC community has an appropriate and accurate understanding of alcohol and alcohol abuse.

All incoming students should have received instructions on how to complete the Alcohol.Edu requirement.  If you did not receive any information regarding the program, please contact Health Promotion and Prevention Services at
(213)740-4777.

Counseling Services (CS)
USC Counseling Services is dedicated to providing students a broad range of quality programs to assist them during their time at USC. All services reflect a strong commitment to diversity and to the individual needs of students on the University Park campus. Through self-reflection, evaluation by national accrediting agencies, and students’ feedback, CS continues to enhance its support system. After an initial intake meeting with a counselor, students may be deferred to individual counseling sessions or group counseling.

If you are a student at the University Park Campus, you may schedule an intake appointment at any time by visiting the SHC building or calling (213)740-7711.

Drug Education Consultations (DEC)
A DEC consultation is a one-on-one session sanctioned through and/or referred by a Resident Advisor, a Greek House Advisor or through Student Judicial Affairs and Community Standards. Prior to the consultation, students need to complete a DEC self-assessment, which asks questions about their substance use behaviors and perceptions.  Following the assessment, an appointment with a health educator is needed to review the assessment, discuss why the student was referred, review campus policy regarding ATOD use, provide information on campus norms and perceptions, and assist the student in making safe decisions in the future regarding substance use.

To schedule an appointment for a consultation, you may either go to SHC or call: (213)740-4777. Vist their website at
