Overview

The USC BAA has an outstanding reputation for the high network value associated with its hallmark events. While remaining true to our mission to fundraise for student scholarships, BAA alumni and friends are invited to support an important cause through meaningful cultural engagement opportunities.  Please see the Photo Gallery for past events —check out the calendar for upcoming events—and register for the BAA mailing list so that you will be notified of approaching dates and deadlines for RSVPs!

  • Welcome Pinning & Affirmation Ceremony—A USC Black Alumni welcome for all newly admitted Black students held annually on an afternoon prior to classes in August, in the beautiful rose gardens of Argue Plaza. Noted USC Black Alumni, faculty and staff provide historical context for the legacy of USC’s Black Trojans. The ceremony concludes with alumni and parents pinning our newly inspired Trojans with the symbols naming the attributes of the successful Trojan Scholar.
  • Trojan Legends Homecoming Weekend Celebration—Alumni host a weekend mixer, tailgate and celebration of Black alumni Trojan legends each year, concluding with the USC Homecoming football game. Over 400 Trojans connect at this event, filled with great networking, delicious food and good times! Past Honorary Chairs have included Anthony Davis, Cheryl Miller, Michael Cooper, Allyson Felix and Cynthia Cooper!
  • An Evening of Art & Legacy— A BAA Scholarship Benefit event typically hosted In the beautiful traditional setting of Bovard Auditorium on campus.  A significant cultural history-maker is highlighted, with an emphasis on their academic contribution to the world. Post event receptions provide Trojan Family networking at its finest! Past events have included: The (Bernard & Shirley) Kinsey Collection; Paul Robeson vocal drama "Speak of Me As I Am;" "The Langston Hughes Project: Ask Yo Mama, 12 Moods of Jazz,"  "The Legacy of Paul Williams," and the original play “Dreaming of Harlem Under a High Southern Sky.”
  • Special Scholarship Fundraiser Events—The USC BAA creates amazing experiences that bring alumni together in support of fundraising for annual scholarships.  These events may include regional events, milestone dinners such as “ Legacy 360”,  BAA’s 40th Anniversary Dinner in 2016, or thinktank events such as the “Aligning for Black Excellence in Higher Education Summit” which features symposia topics with USC black faculty and BAA stakeholders (2015, 2017), hosted in Los Angeles. These events are not to be missed!
