Letter to the USC Community

February 7, 2014

Dear USC Trojan Community,

On Friday, February 1, 2014, USC Asian Pacific American Student Services (APASS) received an anonymous flyer that was filled with racist and sexist slurs directed at a number of communities.

Asian Pacific American Student Services did not want to give legitimacy to this individual or individuals full of hate.  However, we feel the need to make a statement that is clear and direct. We will not tolerate such harmful, derogatory and racist slurs directed at the Asian Pacific American community or at any communities.

The Trojan community prides itself on creating a campus of support and inclusion and we will continue to promote an environment that affirms all identities.

The Department of Public Safety has been notified and will keep Asian Pacific American Student Services posted on any developments.  We have also been in conversation with senior administrators in the Division of Student Affairs. The Division of Student Affairs and Asian Pacific American Student Services support and advocate for our Asian Pacific American communities on campus.

Sincerely,

Mary Ho
Director
Asian Pacific American Student Services

Jonathan Wang
Assistant Director
