Fall semester was full of excitement for Asian Pacific American Student Services (APASS). 59 student leaders completed CIRCLE, the APA Social Justice & Leadership Development course which was capped off by an intense, reflective and action-oriented retreat. The Asian Pacific Alumni Association officially became a co-sponsored for our career alumni mentoring program, Connections! We matched over 40 mentors to mentees this Fall. PEER had a banner semester matching 40 mentors to 46 first-year students.
APASS is currently accepting applications from Spring admit students who are interested in having a mentor. Please visit, http://bit.ly/peermentees to apply.
This semester, we will be making our 6th trip to Hawaii and 9th trip to Manzanar for Alternative Spring Break. Our community-based program, TiE (Together in Empowerment), now co-sponsored with Career Center, will place students in 9 LA-based non-profits. We are thrilled to have Kaya Press and LEAP (Leadership Education for Asian Pacific) join TiE this year.
We are also excited to share our 2012-2013 APASS Annual Report. The annual report shares the enriching programs that APASS has to offer and the range of stakeholders that we collaborate with and serve. A profile of Asian Pacific American freshmen from the last four years demonstrates the diversity of APA students at USC. In addition, the report showcases our program successes and highlights from the year. Check out the 2012-2013 APASS Annual Report and program assessments.
Finally, we hope you can join us for our Spring Open House on Friday, January 31 from 11:00am – 3:00pm in STU 410. Meet our staff and students, get to know our programs, and enjoy some free food!
See you soon,
Mary and Jonathan
