Outreach & Consultation

The Center for Academic Support contributes to a collaborative approach to learning through outreach and consultation to the academic community at USC. Center Staff are available to make presentations and facilitate workshops for various student groups and academic departments on campus. The following outreach activities are available upon request:

Learning Enrichment Workshops

Student groups and academic departments may host a workshop that covers specific areas of study skill development and learning processes. These workshops are designed to provide tools and guidance to help students be successful in their classes, to manage the transition to college, and to balance their academic and co-curricular commitments. The following topics are available upon request:

Time Management Note-taking
Power Reading Writing Papers
Memory Enhancement Exam-taking Strategies
Test-Taking Anxiety Thinking Skills in Problem Solving

Academic Success Seminar

Offered at the beginning of each semester (see USC's Welcome Week schedule), the Center for Academic Support's Academic Success Seminar provides an introduction to the Learning Enrichment Workshops listed above. The seminar helps students learn to study effectively through organization and learning strategies. Practical suggestions are discussed for setting goals, taking notes, reading to study, preparing for and taking exams, managing time, and accepting responsibility for learning. Academic Success Seminars can be hosted by student groups and academic departments upon request.

Informational Presentation

Center Staff are available to visit your group, classroom, or activity to let students know about the services available through the Center for Academic Support.
