Office for Residential Education

Faculty Staff Mentors

History

At USC and within the Office for Residential Education, we are committed to a tradition of academically supportive, intellectually stimulating residential experiences. Since 1985, Resident Faculty, Faculty/Staff Mentors, and the Residential Education professional and student staff have worked together to develop meaningful academic communities for our residential students.

The Faculty/Staff Mentor (FSM) program enables faculty and administrators to play an important role in our residential colleges, residence halls, and apartments. Each year, nearly 200 faculty and staff members affiliate with student communities to promote academic values and foster the development of intellectual communities. This is accomplished through meals, informal discussions, formal presentations, cultural outings and a variety of other activities.
