Part-time position for undergrad or graduate student interested in working with
residents on campus as a promoter of personal growth and development. Responsibilities
include: Programming, Emergency Response, Counseling and Advising, Leadership and
Government, Community Standards, implementing our Academic Integration Model (AIM),
Communication, Staff Team Development, System Wide Initiatives, Liaison with other
Departments, Policy, Professionalism, and Additional Responsibilities.
Resident Coordinator (RC)
Position involves live-in responsibility for a para-professional staff, counseling,
building government, and conduct within the living unit as well as outside responsibilities
in the office. Preference is given to candidates with previous residence hall, student
leadership supervision or related experience. The RC reports directly to the Assistant
Director for the assigned area. Compensation may include sixteen units of tuition
remission per year, a one-bedroom apartment, meal plan or meal stipend, and a cash
stipend.
Assistant RC (ARC)
Position involves live-in responsibility for specific activities and projects to
support the Residence Coordinator. Includes staff development, program development,
building government advisement, and student disciplinary work. The ARC reports directly
to Residence Coordinator.
Special Projects Area Liaison (SPAL)
Position is responsible for the support of departmental and specific Area-wide duties
as determined by the direct supervisor. This position is highly administrative and
supportive in nature, necessitating a flexible work style and the ability to multitask.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;
PC literate; proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint,
Outlook). The SPAL reports directly to the Assistant Director, Selection and Training
Coordinator, or Student Leadership Coordinator for the assigned area.
Faculty Master Assistant (FMA)
Position is responsible for the development of a supportive, safe and welcoming
academic community within the Residential Colleges. This involves helping to create
a climate that is conducive to academic achievement, good scholarship and intellectual
stimulation. This further includes promoting integration of social, recreational,
cultural and intellectual activities, which encourages the personal growth and development
of residents. The Faculty Master Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Director
and Faculty Masters in either the Parkside or North residential colleges. This position
does not require previous experience in residential life or housing.
Building Government Coordinator (BGC)
Position is responsible for the development of the building or area government program
at USC. The Building/Area Government Coordinator works in conjunction with the University
Residential Student Community (URSC) to assure that building or area governments
exist in each residential community with opportunities for residents to participate
in the leadership experiences created by a self-governance process. Building/Area
Government Coordinator works cooperatively with building staff (Senior Resident
Advisors, Assistant Residence Coordinators, and the Parkside Residential College
Coordinator) that are specifically assigned responsibility for the development and
on-going effort of the building or area governments. The Building/Area Government
Coordinator reports directly to the Student Leadership Coordinator.
Residential College Coordinator (RCC)
Position is responsible for the development of a supportive, safe and welcoming
Parkside area community. This involves helping create a climate that is conducive
to academic achievement, good scholarship and intellectual stimulation. This further
includes promoting integration of social, recreational, cultural and intellectual
activities, which encourages the personal growth and development of residents. The
RCC advises Building Government. The Residential College Coordinator reports directly
to the Assistant Director or Resident Faculty Master as assigned.
Peer Review Board
Position offers the opportunity to participate in the Peer Review Board, an alternative
to the more formal judicial process used in the University conduct system. Each
member will serve on a board, facilitating open discussion and educational conversation
with their peers about violations. The position has the unique ability to shape
and influence how the board works because the program is relatively new and in need
of creative minds. Preference is given to candidates who currently live in or have
lived in University owned housing and are in good academic standing.
