| California Dreamin' - How the Real Life Gidget Became the Little Surfing Granny |

| Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman spent much of her childhood on the beaches at Malibu. She started surfing at the age of 15, sometimes trading her peanut butter and radish sandwiches for chances to ride. Based on her journal entries, which her father discovered and read, Gidget: the LITTLE girl with BIG ideas sold over 500,000 copies and was the inspiration for several movies and a long-running television series. Still an active surfer, and still embodying the youthful spirit of Gidget, Kohner-Zuckerman tells the story of how life circumstances took her away from her famed childhood hobby and how she was driven as an older adult to take it up again. Please join the USC Davis School of Gerontology in welcoming the real-life Gidget.
